Identifying Your True Skin Type

Most people picked their skin type years ago and never revisited it, yet skin changes with age, climate, and habits. Before you buy a single new product, this lesson helps you observe what your skin is doing right now. An accurate read is the foundation for every choice you make over the next 90 days.

The Bare-Face Observation Test

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, pat dry, and apply nothing. After one hour, look closely in natural light. Tightness or flaking suggests a drier tendency, an all-over shine suggests an oilier one, and shine limited to the forehead and nose with normal cheeks points to a combination pattern. Note what you see rather than what you expected to see.

Oily Dry Combination and Sensitive Tendencies

Think of these as tendencies on a spectrum, not permanent labels. Oily-leaning skin produces visible sebum within hours of cleansing. Dry-leaning skin feels tight and may show fine flaking. Sensitivity is a separate axis entirely: skin of any type can flush, sting, or react easily, and knowing this changes how cautiously you introduce products later in the program.

Why Your Type Can Shift Over Time

Weather, indoor heating, stress, travel, and hormonal changes all nudge skin behavior. The type you identify this week is your starting point, not a lifelong verdict. Part of becoming skin-literate is repeating this observation whenever your routine stops feeling right, instead of blaming the products first.

Action Step

Do the bare-face observation test tonight and write down your findings: where you see shine, where you feel tightness, and any areas that sting or flush.

General skincare education only — not medical advice or treatment; consult a qualified professional about persistent skin concerns, and patch-test any new product.
